Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), developed by Tapas Fleming, is an easy process for ending traumatic stress, reducing allergic reactions and freeing yourself of negative beliefs. TAT is a simple, elegant, and effective technique that delivers inner peace, relaxation, more vibrant health and empowerment in minutes.

It combines lightly holding a few acupressure points on the front and back of your head (the TAT pose) as you put your attention on a problem (the Steps of TAT).

TAT does not replace therapy or health care from medical professionals.

How to do the TAT pose:

With one hand, lightly touch the tip of the thumb to the area 1/8 inch above the inner corner of your eye.

With the fourth finger (ring finger) of the same hand, lightly touch the tip of the finger to the area 1/8 inch above the inner corner of the other eye.

Both finger tips are now on either side of the bridge of your nose (at the corners of your eyes).

Place the tip of the middle finger at the third eye, usually a point midway between, and about ¸ inch above, eyebrow level.

You now have all three fingers lightly touching the three points.

Now place your other hand on the back of your head, with the palm touching the head so the thumb is resting at the base of the skull just above the hairline. The palm cradles the occipital bone.

Both hands should be resting gently. No pressure is necessary. At each step stay in the pose until there is a shift or release in the energy, then go on to the next step.

Keep in mind that you don’t need to believe any of the following statements, nor do you need to know the details or causes. It is enough merely to have the “intention” to heal the issue, and to go through each of the following steps.

The steps of the process:

1.) Put your attention on the problem (issue) and do the pose.

2.) Put your attention on the opposite condition (or what is wanted) and do the pose.

3.) “All the origins of this problem are healing now.” or “God (or whatever name you use), thank you for healing the origins of this problem.”

4.) “All the places in my mind, body and life where this has been a problem are healing now.” or “God, thank you for healing all the places in my mind, body and life where this has been a problem.”

5.) “All the parts of me that got something out of having this problem are healing now.” or “God, thank you for healing all parts of me that got something out of having this problem.”

6.) “I forgive everyone I blamed for this problem, including God and myself.”

7.) “I ask forgiveness of everyone I hurt, or may have hurt, because of this problem.”

8.) “Whatever is left of this problem is healing now.”

9.) This statement should be an affirmation of the new reality YOU want. An example of this kind of statement could be “I am now joyfully expressing all my gifts, wisdom, and abilities.”

10.) “All of this healing that has happened in this session is now integrated in every part of me!”

11.) Do the same statement (#10) again, but this time the pose should be with the hands reversed. In other words, the opposite hands on face and back of head.

After you’ve completed the steps, put your attention on the problem, trauma or issue again. Check and see if there’s anything about it that still bothers you. If there is, put your attention on that and do the pose for a couple of minutes. Continue in this way until there is nothing about it that hurts you, troubles you, or feels stuck. You will know you are done because you feel free and at peace.

Drink several extra glasses of water on the days you do this process.

Keep your TAT work to a maximum of 20 minutes per day actually in the TAT pose.

Some additional notes:

The very first time you ever do TAT, do the TAT pose with your attention for one minute or so on this statement, “I deserve to live and I can accept love, help and healing”. You only need to do that statement once ever.

In general, each step should last around a minute, or until you feel done. Feeling done can be indicated by a sigh, a sense of not being engaged with the feeling anymore, your attention wandering, an energy release, or simply a feeling of being done. For children, this may happen in a few seconds.

You can use either hand in front. You can keep your eyes open or closed, as you wish. Most people keep them closed.

Very rarely, your feelings may get stronger as you do TAT. If this happens, stay in the TAT pose and keep your attention on what you were doing in that step. Following these instructions, the feeling usually turns to peace in less than a minute.

If you don’t feel peace about this problem after completing all the steps of the process, or if the issue persists, consider working with a professionally trained TAT Facilitator.
