Some Thoughts on Money
Recently someone sent me an article by author Carole Dore that began with the question “Do You Love Money?” It went on to ask “Do you love what money will get you, or do you love the money itself?” The whole point of the article was that in order to attract an ongoing abundance of money into our life we must actually love the money itself.
I have to say that even though I have been facilitating abundance classes and creating abundance & prosperity processes for quite a few years, when I read those words, “that you have to love the money itself” I found it a bit radical. And….it also resonated with me as the truth.
In my teaching, and in my life, I’m a firm believer in The Law of Attraction. Simply stated, the law says “that which you continue to flow energy to grows stronger in your life”. So many of us have been continually indoctrinated throughout our lives (especially in our early years) with the idea that money is either ‘bad’ or a ‘necessary evil’. Because of that many of us either have a love-hate relationship with money, or we are totally disinterested in the money itself.
When we have a love-hate relationship with money we are sending out a vibration that both attracts money, and then repels it. This creates an experience of lots of money coming in for a while, and then no money for a while. Feast or famine. Or we bring in lots of money and then lots of things happen to get rid of the money that we created. On the other hand, if we have a vibration of “disinterest” about money itself, money will respond by being disinterested in us. This usually shows up as we have only enough money to “get by” but never enough to really thrive.
If either of the above situations have been your experience you can be sure that your relationship with money is not a loving, happy one. If you have a reaction of outrage or resistance to the idea that “one needs to love money” it tells you that on some very real level you are pushing money away. After all, if we consider something unlovable we are sending out a big energetic “NO” to it.
And please understand that when I say I agree that one needs to love money, I am not saying that one should be ‘obsessed’ by money. Obsession with money, or anything else, can lead to all sorts of evil. What I am suggesting here is that we need to have the same kind of love for money that we might have for a really good friend. Good friends support us in our life in many ways, and so does money.
In a future posting soon, I will include a healing exercise for balancing conflicting feelings about money, and I’ll also include some recommended resources for improving your relationship with money.
In the meantime, I hope you find these thoughts helpful.

When we’re doing our abundi-taps, as we call our abundance tapping routine, we always include a round which has us say, on each tapping point: I love money and money loves me. It feels so good to do that!
Thanks, Tracy. I’m a big believer in tapping (or other release techniques) on affirmations about what we want. It tends to clear anything that may be going on inside of us that is ‘opposing’ it’s manifestation. Richard
Hi Richard, here’s a dilemma that you may want to address for your readers…me included!
When you talk about loving money, (even as innocuous as like loving a good friend) is that not still going against what it says in the bible where it says that “the love of money is the root of all evil”? I know man has has corrupted that teaching with “money is the root of all evil” by dropping “the love of” since in other parts of the bible it says that money is the answer to everything. So I guess after my long winded start what I really want to know is: What is a healthy level of love for money that won’t put us in trouble with God for desiring more of it in our lives? Thanks for your input
I send you my sincerest wishes for a new year full of peace, joy, love, light, grace, health and prosperity!
Take Care and God Bless
Syl
Thanks, Syl. My belief is that God wants us all to be very prosperous. I don’t think we can get in trouble with God for wanting good in our lives. We just need to make sure we are also loving to others, and all will be well. Wishing you Much Love and Many Blessings, Richard

Wow!
Just now, after reading this, I experienced that feeling you spoke of above. As though money was my friend, and not something to be scorned as anti-spiritual. That is was a gift with the same worthiness of appreciation as air and food and friends.
Wow, thank you Richard. This is actually the first time in my long life I have felt this. Oh, it feels so good and relieving of old ‘writings on my walls’.
Thank you,
Diane
You are very welcome, Diane!
Many Blessings,
Richard
Hi Richard
After reading the article on money and some of the comments, I feel I have a very poor relationship with money, contrary to what I’m beleiving right now. My birth family used to watch a program about a miser when I was a small kid, they rejoiced when he lost some and critisized to no end when he got more and more at the expanse of others. I grew up thinking money as evil. I get by, with a hard time.
I’m very glad I got your book yesterday. now I can start to address these issues that are not really my doing or mine, but learned.
Louise, Thanks for sharing that. You grew up with the strong anti-money influences so many of us received. In fact, I remember the TV show you are speaking of
I’m glad you have my eBook, “Your Ultimate Guide to Manifesting Prosperity” and I’m sure it will help greatly. Remember, it includes a free 30-minute coaching session with me.
